This Cookie Policy explains how TraxLoop (“TraxLoop”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on www.traxloop.com (the “Website”) and the TraxLoop portal at portal.traxloop.com (the “Portal”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

In short: we use only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising, analytics, social media or other tracking cookies on the Website or the Portal, and we do not allow third parties to place them. Because every cookie we use is strictly necessary, we do not show a cookie consent banner: there is nothing optional to accept or refuse.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser and reads back on later visits. Similar technologies include browser storage (such as localStorage and sessionStorage), pixels, tags and device fingerprinting. In this policy, “cookies” refers to all of them.

Cookies can be first-party (set by the site you are visiting) or third-party (set by another organization), and session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (kept until they expire or you delete them).

2. The legal framework

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive as implemented in each Member State, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and equivalent laws, storing or reading information on your device requires your prior consent, unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested or solely to carry out the transmission of a communication. The Quebec Privacy Act also requires that any technology capable of identifying, locating or profiling you be deactivated by default. Canadian, U.S. and other laws require that you be informed of the technologies used and their purposes.

We have chosen to use only cookies that fall within the strictly necessary exemption, and none that identify, locate or profile you. We do not need your consent for them, but we explain each one below so that you know exactly what is stored and why.

3. Cookies on the Website

The Website (www.traxloop.com) does not set any cookies and does not use browser storage. Fonts, images and scripts are served from our own domain; we do not embed third-party content such as videos, maps or social media widgets. The links to our social media pages are ordinary links: nothing is loaded from those services until you choose to follow a link, at which point their own cookie policies apply.

4. Cookies in the Portal

The Portal uses the following first-party cookies. All of them are strictly necessary, are set only by portal.traxloop.com, are sent only over encrypted connections, and cannot be read by scripts in the page or by other websites.

Name Purpose Type Duration
lp_session Keeps you signed in securely after you enter your password and, where required, your second factor. Holds a random token whose hash is matched against your session on our servers. Strictly necessary, first-party Up to 12 hours; deleted when you sign out
lp_locale Remembers the language you chose before signing in, so that the sign-in pages are shown in that language. Strictly necessary (requested by you), first-party Up to 12 months
tl_pass Holds a driver access link open in the browser after its PIN has been entered correctly, so that the driver is not asked for the PIN on every page. Contains a signed reference to the link. Strictly necessary, first-party Until the link’s access window closes, and no longer than 12 hours

The Portal also stores one value in your browser’s sessionStorage:

Name Purpose Duration
traxloop:reloaded-after-update Records the time of an automatic page reload after the Portal has been updated, so that the page is not reloaded in a loop. Contains a timestamp only. Deleted when you close the browser tab

5. Security cookies set by our hosting provider

The Website and the Portal are hosted and protected by Cloudflare, Inc. To protect the Services against automated attacks and abuse, Cloudflare may set the following strictly necessary cookies when its security features apply to your request. They do not track you across websites and are not used for advertising or analytics.

Name Purpose Duration
__cf_bm Distinguishes people from automated bots, to protect the Services from malicious traffic 30 minutes
cf_clearance Records that you have passed a security challenge, so that you are not asked to complete it again For the challenge period configured for the Services
_cfuvid Applies rate limits fairly to users who share the same IP address Session

More information is available in Cloudflare’s own documentation about the cookies it uses.

6. What we do not use

We do not use, and do not permit third parties to place, any of the following on the Website or the Portal:

  • advertising, retargeting or conversion-tracking cookies or pixels;
  • analytics or audience-measurement cookies;
  • social media cookies or plug-ins;
  • session-recording or “heatmap” tools; or
  • device fingerprinting or other techniques that identify your device without cookies.

If we ever propose to use a technology that is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy first and ask for your prior, freely given, specific and informed consent through a consent tool in which refusing is as easy as accepting. Any such technology would remain switched off until you opt in, and you would be able to withdraw your consent at any time.

7. How to control cookies

You can view, block and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers explain how to do so in their help pages. If you block the strictly necessary cookies used by the Portal, you will not be able to sign in or to use a driver access link, but the Website will continue to work normally.

Because we do not track you across websites, the Services do not change their behavior in response to a “Do Not Track” signal. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, although we do neither.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy whenever we change the cookies we use. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

9. Contact

If you have any question about this Cookie Policy or our use of cookies, please contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected].

This policy is available in English and French. Both versions are equally authoritative.
